Counselling and Psychotherapy, in Stockport, Manchester, and Online

Hello, I’m Lauren.
I am a psychotherapist in training working in Transactional Analysis (TA), and I am endorsed to practice. I offer both face-to-face short-term and long-term one-to-one counselling to adults in the Manchester area, as well as online.
As I am a trainee under supervision, I am able to offer a slightly lower, more affordable cost for sessions.
I am a student member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Association for Transactional Analysis (UKATA), working under supervision (1:6 ratio – meaning for every six hours of therapy provided, I attend an hour of supervision to ensure my effectiveness).
How can I help?
Does any of this sound familiar?
You find yourself repeating the same patterns in relationships
You often put other peoples’ needs before your own
Anxiety or overthinking is becoming exhausting
You struggle with confidence or low self-worth
You feel stuck but aren’t sure why
Whether you are struggling with something specific or looking to better understand yourself, I aim to create a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you are welcomed to talk freely and feel supported as you explore whatever’s on your mind. You might feel stuck, lost, or unsure of how to move forward. At times, this can be the result of circumstances beyond our control; other times, it may come from being caught in familiar patterns of behaviour.
Through therapy, we can work to change how we relate to these challenges—shifting the way we think about them and exploring new ways of responding. I believe that gaining greater awareness of how the past influences the present can open the door to emotional growth, deeper understanding, and meaningful change.

Getting started
The initial call
I offer a free 20-minute introductory call where we can get to know each other a little more. This gives you the opportunity to discuss the reasons why you’ve come to therapy and to ask me any questions that you might have about how therapy works and what can be expected during our sessions.
The assessment period
Following our call, should you wish to book a session – (there’s no obligation to do this during the call), I will send you some paperwork to complete before we have our first meeting. During our first meeting I will begin to develop more of an understanding of why you are coming to therapy and what your hopes are for the outcomes. The first 4-6 sessions are a period of assessment where we will get to know each other; I will get to know you, and you will get to know me and my way of working. If we agree that we think working together is a good fit, then we will discuss the focus of work in future sessions.
How often we’ll meet
I do ask for the first 4 to 6 sessions to take place weekly to support the building of our therapeutic relationship. I am aware that this is not always possible for everyone, and I am happy to work with clients on a fortnightly basis. This is something that can be discussed during our initial call, or during our first meeting.
Fees
I offer a free initial twenty minute online or telephone consultation.
50 minute session: £45
